By now, everyone knows that there was a tsunami in Samoa this week. It is certainly a tragedy for many people there. Many in Hawaii are still waiting to hear word about family members.
For a short while, Hawaii itself was on tsunami watch. Although the watch was brief, it was probably the most serious of this season.
Hawaii 24/7 does a great job of summing up the morning and has some great video of the surge (in Hilo Bay). Here's a link to the site. On Oahu, the beaches were closed (not that it stopped some people) but there was no significant damage and as an island dweller, I felt fortunate while sending my thoughts to other Pacific Island dwellers not so fortunate.
